The belt of hilly land 115km northeast of Udaipur is the most fertile in Rajasthan, watered by several perennila rivers. Although you need your own vehicle to penetrate the countryside, the historic town of Chittaurgarh, which preceded Udaipur as the seat of Mewar's rulers, it is accessible by bus. |
