Mount Abu was an important
Vaishnava and Shaivite pilgrim centre up to the 11th century. Today, it is
recognised the world over for its maginificent Jain temples. Hidden in
thick woodland north of the town, the Jain temples at Dilwara are
arcitectural gems, decorated with the most intricate marble carving in the
world. the Dilwara temples enshrine the images of various Jain "Tirathankaras"
or saints.
