Pilgrims come in the thousands to the pleasant little town of Nabadip on
the west bank of the Hooghly, around 100 km north of Howrah.It was the
eleventh-century capital of Bengal under the Sen dynasty.Nabadip's most
atmospheric temple is The Kali Bari at Poramatolla, dedicated to the
goddess, tucked into the folds of one of the most impressive banyan
trees.
