Marwar Festival :
The Marwar Festival, held in memory of the heroes of Rajasthan is one such example. The festival celebrates the 'Maand' style of folk music - an evolved classical style that describes the romantic life of Rajasthan's rulers.

Celebrated in the Jodhpur region, the Marwa festival is devoted mainly to the music and dance of the Marwar region. This is a festival that allows visitors on vacation in Jodhpur to understand and enjoy the folk traditions of this part of the state. Originally known as the Maand Festival, this festival features folk music centered on the romantic lifestyle of Rajasthan's rulers.

The festival is celebrated during the month of September-October for two days. Tourists on vacation in Jodhpur can savour the folk music of Rajasthan performed by spirited folk dancers that assemble here and perform with gusto and entertain the audience with Rajasthani folklore. Other attractions of the festival include horse riding and horse polo. The massive Mehrangarh Fort and the impressive Umaid Bhawan Palace, which are symbols of ingenuity, might and velour of the Rajputs, make Jodhpur an ideal location for the festival.
Nag Panchami :
Nag Panchami is celebrated in honour of the Serpent King, Cobra (Naga). This fair is held on Bhadtapada Budi Panchami (August-September) of every year. People of all communities participate and gather in this fair. The snake charmers from the whole area gather and their cobras are worshiped especially by women. Huge effigies of the mythical serpent are displayed during the fair. The panorama during this festival is very colorful and eye-catching.
Kite Festival :
A festival with a difference - as kites take to the sky all over Rajasthan. In the evening, kites with lights in them and fireworks brighten the skies above. The main celebrations are in Jaipur and Jodhpur. If you like kite flying, you should be here at this time.
Nav Sati :
Nav Sati held in (March/April) at Ban Ganga in Bifara Tehsil, Jodhpur attracts thousands of people. It is organized in the memory of nine women, who had committed sati (an ancient custom of sacrificing ones life at the funeral pyre of the husband) at this place. A dip in Banganga River is a must, before participating in the fair. The villagers later gather in groups arid enjoy themselves in singing and dancing to the beat of the drums.
