| Introduction : |
| Hassan located 118 km northwest of Mysore ,
is visited in large number because of its temples in Belur and in Halebid,
both northwest of the town, and the jain pilgrimage site of
Sravanabelagola to the southeast. Hassan district was under the region of
Mouryas of north in the 3rd bc and later kingdom of kadambas, Chalukyas,
Ganges, Hoysalas and Vijaynagar empire. the hoysalas give the name through
their unique styles of architecture. the place is called now Hassan after
the smiling goddess "Hasanamba". The town has cool
environment. |

| Hasanamba Temple : This temple is
dedicated to smiling goddess Hasanamba, which is presiding deity of town.
This temple is only open once in a year for about a week. A big fair is
also held on this occasion. |
