Bangalore, like any other bustling Indian city has a variety of cuisines to
offer travelers with a healthy penchant for food. Primarily, the cuisine of
Karnataka, is influenced by both Hindu and Muslim traditions. The famous 'BisiBela
Bath', 'Uppittu' and 'Holighe' are the delicious and popular food items from
this region. 'Mysore masala dosa' is another favorite from Karnataka and so
is the coconut chutney.
At restaurants in Bangalore one could taste the regular Kannada food in the
form of a thali consisting of kosambari (a salad made of soaked lentils,
lightly spiced), rice, two or three curries or kootu, a sambhar, a saaru
(clear pepper broth) and a sweet dish. The coastal delicacies like fish are
famously prepared in the coorgi style, simple, yet flavorsome.
Travelers looking for Continental, Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Italian
cuisine will be surprised at the number of good restaurants offering the
same.
