The word 'Lothal' means 'place of dead'. Lothal is essentially a single culture site. The Harappan Culture in all it's variant forms is well represented here. Lothal 87 kms from Ahmedabad, was discovered some 20 years ago. The major attractions in Lothal are the vast ruins of the ancient city. The most important are the sites of ancient dockyard, the acropolis (upper town), the lower town, the bead factory and the warehouse. |
